Beryl has been considered a precious stone since ancient times and comes in possible colors of green, blue, yellow, red, white and colorless.
Green beryl is called emerald and blue beryl is called aquamarine. Red beryl is very rare, usually under a carat and primarily used in very special jewelry.
The deep blue shade of Beryl is called Maxixe and fades to white when exposed to sunlight or is subjected to heat treatment. The color does return with irradiation.
